When you have the show comment number option turned on for a form type you can split directly from the comment.
First, turn on the Show Comment Numbers option from the form type config page.
1. Open the Configure module > Document Types.
2. Under the To & CC section tick the Show Comment Numbers option.
Once this is enabled - comment numbers will automatically be shown on the history.
Comment numbers will exclude Admin comments that are added to the history of the form automatically.
Now, when you create a form of this type, the comments area will display a split button when you hover over the area.
Split and include comments from another form
When you split from a comment, it will carry forward comments up to that entry in history (including attachments) to a new form.
When you split from an individual comment, all comments up to that point in the history of the documents will be automatically carried over to the new form.
The form you have split to will include a new section that displays the comments along with the attachment in those comments. The attachments in those comments will be selected by default and included on the new form.
You will have the option to exclude comments by unticking the include comments tick box at the time that you split
You also have the option to exclude attachments that are carried forward by unticking them in the attachments section.
When clicking on the Split button on the toolbar to perform a split, the comments will not be automatically selected. You can include them by ticking the include comments and attachments checkbox.
Please note that when splitting from the toolbar all comments from the form you split from and their attachments will be included if you check the Include comments and attachment checkbox.
Internal Comments are not included when Splitting from a comment or when Splitting from the form toolbar. Therefore only Public comments are carried forward to the new form should you choose to include them.
