There are a few ways to find what you're looking for. Below is an overview of the Global Search function and a few tips to help you find things more easily.
Full-Width Display
Form registers and search results will now be loaded utilising the full width available. This will allow you to see more data at a glance.
To view a form simply click on it to see it on the right-hand side of the screen.
Quick Keyword Search
To perform a quick search click the search icon in the project bar and enter text in the Keyword box.
By default the keyword search is restricted to the form. This means it will search for that text in the title, fields, comments, and names of attachments. You can change this to search the text WITHIN attachments by selecting "Anywhere including Attachments" from the range drop down that's labelled *In*.
"Anywhere including Attachments" is not currently supported in RIB 4.0 / Single Customer hosted environments.
Refine Search by Form Type
If your search returns too many results you can filter the search further to a specific from type.
Show or Hide Superseded revisions in Global Search
When performing a Distribution Transmittal Search with Display as Files turned on, you now have the option to hide superseded revisions.
By unticking the option below you will be able to search for the latest revisions and exclude superseded revisions.
Refine Search by Status
You can further refine the search by including the status of the form you are searching for. This option is available under the Distribution search panel.
Refine Search by Project RoleÂ
You have the ability to search by Project Role. In this type of search, the results will look for all companies in the specified role and users within those companies. This allows a more broad search and provides results in which either that role's company is involved, or is directly related to that role.
In the example below, provides results in which either that Subcontractor's company is involved, or is directly attentioned to the Subcontractor.
Or in the example below, searching with the Head ContractorÂ
Refine Search by User Fields
You can further refine the search by filtering the user fields of the form you are searching for.
Also available in the distribution section are contact and date pickers used for refining the search to Who or When a from was created.
When using the a date picker you can type -7 in the From field to represent the a search for a form that was created in the last 7 days. This becomes super useful when you save the search, as it will dynamically change the date from period based upon when the saved search is run.
Refine Search by Special Fields
This section allows you to search for forms using the custom user fields and will only appear if a form type is selected. The contents of this section will vary depending on the form type of selected and the user fields that have configured for that form.
Â
In Special Fields, if you are searching for multiple user fields, you may use the 'or' function. For example if you are searching for a text based search within 'Special fields' for either of two words, you can use the 'or' function.Â
You can do this by :
- Clicking 'anywhere in the text' and typing the words you want to search for, with the 'or' function in between:
It is important to note that here you cannot use 'keyword' based search functions like AND, "Exact Match", Wild Card*
   3. Furthermore you can use the column filter to find the word in global search or report :
Refine by Cascading Fields
You can search with cascading fields under 'Special Fields' section of global search. When you click on the cascading field you see the it in the familiar tree view you see on forms.
Also, like most fields in global search, multiple selections can be made to search across many options.
Cascading field auto filters
Cascading fields in global search have an auto-complete filter helping you to quick find the options you are looking for.
Just type the word you are looking for in the search box in Cascading field and the option related to that word will appear belowÂ
Cross Project
If you are on more than one Project on RIB CX, you'll be able to search for items on some or all of them by ticking the project name.
