This is a step by step guide on how to create and configure custom date user field that will be used to determine days preceding completion status in State user field. This is the user field shows the date document will be marked as completed.
In State user field this will need to be selected ‘Check the date based on’ menu, to calculate how many days are left before completion date and assigning it a colour signal.
When user is uploading document, he/she will need to input this date, to be able to see the colour signals in document register.
Step 1 : Go to Publication Space -> Settings -> Numbering → Click 'Add Custom Field' button. Click 'Select type' drop down and choose 'Date'

Step 2: Give it a code and description. Examples are: 'Due date' 'Forecast close date' 'Completion date' 'Approval date' 'Submission date' etc. This is the user field will shows the date document will be marked as completed; the date that will be filled in when uploading the document; the date that will be used to in State user field to determine how many days are preceding the date of completion.
